History

Created in 2008 by yours truly at The Cabinet Room, London, England. As a kid, I was an avid reader of the Biggles books.

Review

The idea was to make a riff on an Aviation (see Biggles Aviation) but ginger cries out for cognac so I also ended up with this ginger Sidecar.

Cocktail of the day:

Delightful as always. This one's a keeper.

Very nice, I did half the lemon juice like I usually do. Ginger is subtle, but adds just the tiniest kick.

I feel it didn’t work quite as well as the Biggles aviation, but then again I do love an aviation. Just the right combination of infused ginger spice and mellow warmth. Will definitely be going on the increasingly long Short List😂.

Made this with 7.5 ml of ginger switchel as was lacking a liqueur -- fiery but invigorating; probably 5 ml would be better, but still very tasty and refreshing.

Wow. The ginger element, on paper, might throw you off. But when you taste it, this is definitely a Sidecar. Unexpected. Well done.

This is a delightful cocktail. We had after dinner, and it was perfect. The ginger liqueur adds a wonderful flavour with the citrus makes for a great digestive. Would be easy to drink as an evening sipper or even at a brunch.

Also tasty with dark local honey instead of the rich simple syrup. Cognac and Domaine De Canton are an inexplicably delicious combo and make for a great after dinner sipper.

You intrigued me; tried both versions using same ginger liqueur.
Used buckwheat honey - most other drinks I've made using this have suffered, but here it finds a home.
Yes, it enters "The Gold Rush" territory, but this is my new fave Sidecar.
